I had the best & wurst time this weekend

This weekend was definitely one for the books.. In the best and worst way. Iv'e been sick for a while now but on Friday, it really seemed to have calmed down. I was oh so excited because my cousin was getting married in Austin so that meant I was gonna be feeling a little like myself... Finally! She got married in chapel Dulcenia and it was such a beautiful wedding! By the end of the reception, I started to feel sick again & I went home feeling the worst. That night, my friends wanted to go to Wursfest & while I wasn't feeling very good, I decided to go. It was SUCH A BLAST! By Saturday, things went downhill so quick and so fast.. I had completely lost my voice, I had a headache and I was coughing so much. That night, my friends wanted to have a movie and wine night but I felt so sick that I couldn't stick around very long. :( Nonetheless, I'm so glad I had a weekend where I was with friends and family! No homework was done, but so many memories were made. <

Strange strange things...

Last week was one of my favorites in a really long long time. Besides the fact that I didn't have too much homework, It was the premiere of STRANGER THINGS 2. Saying I love stranger things might be an understatement; I love the characters, I love the plot, I love the suspense, I love it all! My best friend made chicken Alfredo and we all stayed up to watch the first few episodes. I still need two more episodes to finish the second season, but I'm really just holding off on watching it because I know once I finish, I'll have to wait an entire year to see season 3. I'm excited to know how it ends and what happens but for now... I'm going to hold off and keep my suspense rolling for just a little while longer.  With love,  Martha Pina

A day at the farm

Whoop! Whoop! This weekend was OH SO FUN! On Saturday, me and my best friend went to a pumpkin patch in Bastrop. Now, I've only been to ONE pumpkin patch EVER so I was excited to finally go again and just enjoy good music, good food and cute pumpkins! I was STARVING when we got there so I jumped straight to the BBQ food truck & had myself a brisket sandwich with some macaroni and cheese. We then decided to do the corn maze and I have to say... We only got lost once, which hey, is a huge accomplishment for us. We finally headed over to the pumpkins section and I was so excited to see them. They had all sizes and I was so tempted to buy the biggest one they had and bake myself 100 pumpkin pies! All in all, It was a blast. Being that i'm studying to be a teacher, I have this theory that my heart never truly grows old, so things like this get me so excited. Until the next pumpkin patch... With love, Martha Pina

Candles & weekends.

This weekend was quite the weekend. Besides getting paid & going shopping, I did a bunch of NOTHING (my favorite thing to do!). It was one of the first weekends where I had nothing planned. I didn't go out, I didn't feel stressed, I wasn't rushed for anything... I was simply relaxing. Saturday consisted of a couple of naps & Sunday was my "deep clean" day. I cleaned my room, fixed my clothes, organized my backpack, and cleared out my restroom drawers... And you'll never guess what my reward was.... Lighting my new candle. I was SO excited to light my candle and lay down to a clean room. My room was basically a big cup of hot chocolate and I loved every minute of it. I'm grateful for days like this; days where I can just relax and take time for myself. I get to reboot and get ready for another busy week ahead of me. Today, I hope whoever reads this gets a minute to relax and reboot. Light a candle, lay down & close your eyes for a minute; if

Family is Forever

My heart is so full today. For me, home is about five hours away so quite frankly, I don't get to visit as much as I should or actually could. I went home this weekend & It seriously felt like a breath of fresh air. it felt so good to spend time with my friends & family and just catch up. I slept it most days, but managed to get ready & conquer the day by making endless plans. It's funny because time seriously seems to go by so much faster when you're having fun & it really did. I didn't get to do everything I wanted to or spend time with a couple of people that I said I would, but no doubt I'll make time for them next time around. My favorite part about my trip back home was sitting in my couch in my pajamas with my momma just talking about life. I missed being lazy and talking about pointless things with her. My dad was pretty busy most of the weekend, but I managed to see him and talk to him. I got to talk to one of my brothers about my future

Thankful. Grateful. Blessed.

Ohhhhhh happy day.. Last week, my best friends surprised me with cake and dinner for my birthday. Kori seriously knows the way to my heart because she cooked my favorite.. LASAGNA and Lauren.. well she clearly wants me to get Diabetes with the cake she chose out because I am such a sucker for a good cookie cake. My birthday was truly a great one. Besides the fact that I got actual gifts, I felt so blessed and grateful. I realized that the people who truly love me and care for me, will be there for me. I realized that the people who want to be in my life, will run the extra mile to be there & I realized that what I have, is more than enough. I hate getting so sappy, but I couldn't help but feel so blessed at all that I have. Many times, I complain about not having this or that, but in reality, I have it ALL. I have friends who love me, family who supports me, & professors who encourage me. I am blessed beyond what I could ever deserve & that alone, makes me heart so hu
