Touchdowns & Tailgates

WHAT. A. WEEKEND. I'll be the first to say I HATE going out. Once I'm actually out, I love it but the struggle to get ready, see people, & come home late is real y'all... however this weekend was different. Some of my best friends from back home came out to the Texas State VS. UTSA football game & let me tell you... It was such a blast! We woke up early on game day because like usual, we procrastinated buying outfits. We brunched at Cracker barrel & headed out to the mall as fast as we could. We promised each other we would only shop at ONE store but one turned to two and before we knew it, we were shopping all over the place. Lucky for us, we finally found some outfits and we rushed right back home to get ready. We also told ourselves that we would only take an hour and a half to get ready but guess what? That also didn't happen. (We happen to be THOSE girls that walk in late everywhere... late, but we're there!) If it wasn't one thing it was anot

A place called Gruene

Today was such a fun day. I don't normally go out (because quite frankly, I have anxiety with big crowds) BUT today I made an exception. My brother's girlfriend was in town & she wanted to shop around. The outlets were on top of our list but we decided to first go to Greene, Texas. If you're not familiar with Gruene, It's basically a small town with cute charm. It has adorable boutiques, great wine, good food and of course, a one of a kind dance hall.  As I walked in to their souvenir store, I quickly realized their Christmas tree was already up. (Let's let Halloween pass people!) Although I had a mini shock attack, I was quickly taken back to last Christmas and I couldn't help but tear up. (Just a lil' bit) Christmas is my favorite time of year simply because my entire family is together. Sure, the presents are nice and the food is delicious but I treasure my family the most. I love a lot of things but in particular, I love having a full house, I love

My First Slice of Life

I felt so overwhelmed this morning. Most days, work is calm and quiet but today was quite the ride. I work at the Theater department for my university and once in a while, things get a little hectic. Today just happened to be one of those days. I had one professor ask me to print him copies of his syllabus, I had another ask me to scan them a play and email it to them, I had a student ask me for paper and my coworker gave me a hundred copies to shred. While this all sounds easy and harmless (it really isn't too too bad), the printer is slow, the paper was hidden and the shredder only takes like.. THREE papers at a time. All this happened within ten minutes and I began to feel frustrated and overwhelmed. What really pushed me to the edge was the fact that they were all staring at me to finish what they had asked me to do.Yeah go ahead, stare me down, It'll only make me mess up and start all over. I felt so rushed and disorganized. What was a fifteen minute thunderstorm fe

Meet the Pineapple of all Pineapples

Hi there, so glad you're here! My name is Martha Pina (Pina actually means Pineapple in Spanish!) Although I'm not a teacher (yet..Eeek!) I'm hoping to have my own classroom next year. I am scheduled to graduate from Texas State University in May of 2018 with a bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies & I am currently an intern near San Marcos. I am so excited to finally be interning in a school where I'll be seeing my classroom twice a week all semester!         Although I live in San Marcos, I am originally from the Rio Grande Valley. I have been there all my life and if i'm being honest, the two greatest things people love back home are food and family. I'm not really complaining because for me, those are right on top of my list. My family is my greatest treasure. Along with my parents, I have four brothers, three sister in laws and FIVE nieces and nephews! Can you believe that?! Holidays are such a blast and I love sitting around the Christma
